SWISS INSTITUTE OF LONGEVITY

Welcome

The Challenge

Due to the increasing life expectancy in today's society, the topic of longevity is becoming more and more important, not only in the sense of living longer, but especially in the sense of staying healthy longer and avoiding longer periods of morbidity in old age.

Numerous research projects are underway around the world to understand the links between genetics, lifestyle, health and other factors in aging. This will lead to older people staying healthier in the first world. However, it is also important to improve health in the second and third worlds, and therefore topics like clean water are important.

Our Mission

The non-profit organisation Swiss Institute of Longevity aims to support these efforts by promoting early stage startup activities based on research projects, especially in Europe, to bring research results to the market.

The core element is a network of scientists and experienced entrepreneurs who evaluate potential projects. After a positive evaluation, they support the startups financially and operationally, on a case-by-case basis, with their work and network.

Our Organisation

The institute is located in Central Switzerland in the canton of Nidwalden. The initiator is Gunter Festel, who has supported numerous startups in the past as Founding Angel and is financing the institute with his private assets. In the first phase, the institute is organised virtually, as far as possible. The scientific team is led by Tim Friedrichson, a former researcher at a Max-Planck Institute.

Our Invitation

Interested people are invited to join the network and contribute to the Institute with their time, skills or contacts. People willing to support specific startup projects are especially welcome. There are no fees or other obligations and all interaction processes are designed to be as pragmatic as possible.
