SWISS INSTITUTE OF LONGEVITY
Vision Longevity is much more than just anti-ageing, which is often equated, in connection with cosmetic products, with a younger appearance. Longevity takes a holistic view of the entire body with all its complex biochemical mechanisms. Important mechanisms include inflammation and mitochondrial activity. The aspects that need to be taken into account when implementing an individual longevity strategy are as follows.
Since no one lives 100% healthy or may have hereditary risk factors, an individual analysis is necessary. This must relate to the person as a whole. All aspects must be considered and well balanced. Implementation is a long-term endeavour, as the positive effects can only be seen years later. This is precisely why an understanding of the mechanisms for increasing motivation is of central importance. A positive mood with positive motivation should be created. Based on this, an action plan must be developed. To this end, appropriate companion diagnostics are necessary in order to illustrate the person's progress and thus motivate them. Other motivating elements such as gamification, including a peer-to-peer comparison, can also help. At the moment, developments are moving in the direction of specialised longevity clinics. However, this is certainly not a model for the masses, as such clinics are expensive and many people do not have the time to spend in such clinics. Therefore, outpatient business models will prevail in which consultation and diagnostics take place in specialised centres and progress is tracked via virtual solutions.
